After securing qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Black Stars will meet President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Otto Addo’s team qualified on enemy territory after a brave effort against Nigeria in Abuja, earning a 1-1 draw.

Ghana qualified on the basis of away goals after a 0-0 stalemate in the first leg.

After the game, President Akufo-Addo tweeted, “warm congratulations to the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars, for their dogged display in Abuja, and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.”

“I am very proud of the team’s exploits. They have made the entire nation proud.”

He also spoke on the phone with Otto Addo. Akufo-Addo joked that he would ‘kidnap’ coach Addo from returning to Dortmund so that he could focus solely on Ghana ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Thomas Partey was the hero for Ghana in Abuja as the Black Stars held rivals Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in the final playoff of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Arsenal star handed Ghana an 11th minute lead with a bullet strike to silence the vociferous home supporters.

However, the lead did not last as Nigeria restored parity through defender William Troost-Ekong in the 22nd minute from the spot.

Nigeria bombarded their counterparts for the majority of the first half but failed to take advantage of the half chances that went their way.

In the second stanza, Ghana tactician Otto Addo deployed a pragmatic tactic to frustrate the Super Eagles.

The Dortmund trainer’s tactical tweak nullified the hosts as the Black Stars worked their socks off to record a famous 1-1 draw result.

Ghana will know their group opponents on Friday, April 1 when the draw takes place in Doha, Qatar.
