The 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Wakiso Zone Boys football Qualifiers were brought to a sudden halt yesterday afternoon, with the quarterfinal games not played as scheduled.

The abrupt stoppage was a result of an abandoned Round of 16 match between Kyadondo SS and Kisozi High School, which was marred by controversy and a brawl.

The highly anticipated match between Kyadondo SS and Kisozi High School began with controversy, as Kyadondo contested several referee calls.

The tension escalated, and emotions ran high, leading to a fight breaking out between fans and Kyadondo SS’s technical bench.

With only 18 minutes left to play, the referee awarded a penalty to Kisozi High School, a decision that was met with widespread disapproval from Kyadondo players, coaches, and fans.

In protest, Kyadondo refused to send a goalkeeper to defend the penalty, which further fueled the tension.

The situation took a dramatic turn when a Kisozi High School fan stormed onto the field and slapped Kyadondo coach Ibrahim Ayub Kizza.

In a shocking response, Kizza fought back, sparking a brawl that left the fan in a sorry state.

Following a tense boardroom meeting, the two parties agreed to resume the game from where it was abandoned, with the penalty to be taken at the restart.

Meanwhile, other Round of 16 matches continued, with holders St. Mary’s Kitende dominating Ndejje High School 3-0 to reach the quarterfinals.

Buddo SS edged out London College 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Greenlight Islamic Secondary School-Nansana defeated Zana Mixed 2-0, while Madina Islamic beat Aidan College 2-1.

Aggrey Zone champions Standard High School-Zzana eliminated St. James Buddo 2-1, Cityland College beat Light College Katikamu 1-0, and Kakungulu High School won against Andy Mwesigwa 1-0.

The quarterfinals are set to be played today, although the schedules have yet to be communicated by the local organizing committee.
