A Las Vegas like night life at Uganda Boxing champions league season three opener!

Filled with great entertainment, the Uganda Boxing Champions League season three (3)  boxed off on Saturday , 25th May at Lugogo Indoor stadium in style.

Filled to capacity, the Arena was treated to both boxing and entertainment.

The day’s entertainers were Nyonyi Cultural Troupe, musician Vyper Ranking, comedians duo Madrat and Chiko, Maulana and Reign and Kalela who got the crowd laughing to bits.

The third edition opener was also graced by the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) President Moses Muhangi, Uganda Olympic committee (UOC) President Donald Rukare, Next Media CEO Joe Kigozi and Musician Navio.

Differing from the last two editions’ 13 bouts on the day, the third edition opener card had 20, Seven more than before.

The mouthwatering main fight was between the  2022 Intermediate Champion and 2023 Champions League finalist, stylist Broline Kimbugwe  of COBAP Boxing Club  and National Open Champion Nerrick Tumusiime ‘Bulabe’ of Kololo High Boxing Club.

Kololo High School’s Nerrick Tumusiime “BULABE” won the fight 5-0 on unanimous decision from the judges.

Too thrilling with hard punches from both boxer, the composure and experience from the COBAP stylist Broline Kimbugwe couldn’t save him from the young fearless and dynamic Tumusiime.

The other eye catching bout of the day was between  East Coast’s duo of Bomber Mulungi Kassim and Mudenya Trevor in 57kgs Featherweight Contest.

Boxing on the front foot throughout the fight, Mulungi won by 5-0 unanimous decision from the judges.

It was an action packed entertainment during the 57kgs Feather weight bout between Lukanga’s Kiggundu Leon and Mbazira Eliphaz of Nakawa boxing Club in the box Off Category.

The fight ended in a KO in the final round in favor of Mbazira. Whilst, James Japyem from the UPDF  won 2-1 against Babiro Shafick in the same weight.

In the Ladies Light weight Elite 60kgs, Naava Gertrude lost to  Zahara Nandawula. Nandawula won 4-1 by split to prove her might.

Meanwhile, the  Bantamweight (54Kgs) contest between Hakim Lubega and Brian Nkurunziza was stopped by the Referee in Round.

Lubega Hakim failed to complete the fight after an awkward fall due to a Brian Nkuruziza unexpected punch and the Kololo Boxing Club based  boxer Nkuruziza won the fight.

Another fight between Nsubuga Samuel of Kalinabiri and Byambara Duncan of Subena BC was stopped by the Referee in Round One after Duncan was hit hard that he couldn’t continue.

In the Featherweight 57 kgs Elite Women, Kugonza Joyce from UPDF beat BII FIT’s  Nabbumba Shamim.

Kyengera’s Kimera Eddy too defeated Kazungu Frank of Brawn BC by a 5-0 unanimous decision in the Elite Light Welter 63.5 kgs.

In the Middle weight 75 kgs, Ojok Alfred (BRAWN) humbled Mukuye Harold of UPDF with a 5-2 reviewed decision from the judges.

Rising star Kabito Sadat from Lukanga brewed confidence in the Fly 51 kgs but was later on drowned into a loss by Brawn’s Matovu Livingstone.

Next fight day of this Season will be on Saturday 29th June 2024 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
