UNF Novices: St. Noa Girls-Zana dethrones St. Mary’s Kitende in another Wakiso/Entebbe road derby final classic tie

St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana are Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) Buganda region Novice champions after a spirited fight against rivals Kitende in another classic Wakiso district/Entebbe road derby.

The Zana based side beat rivals st. Mary’s Kitende by 28-26 to clinch their second Novice trophy following their very first in 2017.

The 2022 champions St. Mary’s Kitende won the round robin preliminary format unbeaten to top the table with 12 points in six games.

St. Noa Girls-Zana (10) after a loss to Kitende ranked second. Buddo SS who lost to both Kitende and St. Noa Girls-Zana ranked third and Kawanda SS fourth to complete the semi-final puzzle.

To reach the final, the all time champions St. Mary’s Kitende eliminated Kawanda SS by 25-16 in the semi-final stage.

In the semi-final, champions St. Noa Girls-Zana registered a hard fought slim 22-19 against old friends Buddo SS to book a final date with rival neighbors Kitende.

It’s now confirm the two schools St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana and St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende will represent Buganda region at National Novice championship in Mbale later this year.

The two shall compete against the other either regional representatives from Easter, Northern, Kampala and Western at the national level event.

In the past 13 edition, St. Mary’s Kitende has won nine (9) trophies of the schools category.

Only St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana (2017), the defunct Luyanzi College (2018) and Buddo SS (2019) came into the mix.
