Wakiso Giants marched on to the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 after eliminating hosts Blacks Power 6-5 on penalties at Akii Bua stadium, Lira.

The game ended in a goalless draw in normal time before penalties decided the winner.

Despite fielding a team without six first team members, the lads exhibited a good game and dominated especially in the first half.

Coach John Ayala Luyinda made six changes from the side that lost to KCCA in the league on Thursday and handed debuts to right back Colline Onega and midfielder Lincoln Mukisa.

Norman Ojik who led the line saw his goal chalked off for offside and his other effort hit the frame.

Alex Komakech, Tom Masiko and Grant Matsiko came on in the second half for Mukiibi, Ssenyonga and Onega respectively as the coach went for fresh legs.

However, the scores remained tied with Samson Kiirya pulling off a couple of saves in the latest minutes.

In the penalty shootout, Ojik, Ssenfuka, Masiko, Komakech, Kaddu and Ssenyonjo converted to make up Paul Willa who missed despite taking first.
