Uganda Hippos have shared spoils with Egyptian U20 side as both sides continue with preps for TotalEnergies U20 AFCON tournament.

The closely contested tie between The Hippos and the host nation Egypt was played on Monday afternoon at the Military Academy Olympic Stadium, Cairo.

Juma Ddembe scored Uganda Hippos’ goal whilst defender Apollo Kagogwe own goal leveled matters.

In the 42nd minute, the Hippos initiated an attack through Ibrahim Juma to set up Ddembe who was at the tail end of the move to earn Uganda a 1-0 lead.

However, the lead was short-lived with Egypt finding the equaliser at the stroke of halftime.

Defender Apollo Kagogwe was unlike to direct the ball into his own goal.

The Hippos will relocate to Ismailia on Tuesday where they will play their matches in group B against Central African Republic, Congo Brazaville and South Sudan.

The team left the country on Saturday and will start their tournament journey on Monday, the 20th against Central African Republic in their group B opener in Ismailia.

The tournament will take place between 19th to 11th March in Egypt.
