Vipers SC’s chances of progressing to the next round of this season’s CAF Champions League have dealt with a blow following a goalless draw with Congolese side TP Mazembe in game played at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Sunday evening.

In the seventh minute, there was a nice exchange between Milton Karisa and Olivier Osomba but it ended in the latter shooting just wide.

Milton Karisa raced clear of the TP Mazembe defence but his intercepted in the 50th minute of the game.

In the 62nd minute, there was a good chance for Abubakar Lawal to break the deadlock after the TP Mazembe defence was caught off guard but the Nigerian fumbles with the ball in his legs and his intercepted.

Abdu Lumala drove into the box and shot but his attempt was blocked for a corner which was punched clear.

The two sides will face again in the second leg of the tie on October 15.

The winner of the two-legged affair will be cruising to the Groups, the other team will get into the CAF Confederation Cup.
