Swimming: Moses Mwase bounces back as USF president

Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) elective assembly ushered in Moses Mwase as president to run the federation for the next four years.

During the Saturday 13th March 2021 assembly at Lugogo Indoor Arena- Kampala, Mwase beat counterpart Simon Peter Mugisha with 28 against 14 votes to take over office.

Currently the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) second Vice President, Mwase bounced back as president having served the federation in the same capacity when he replaced Dr. Donald Rukare following the latter’s appointment as National Council of Sports (NCS) board chairman last year.

After his election into office, Mwase vowed to expand and spread the game to different parts of the country. In his four year strategic plan, Mwase focuses to build and develop a national Aquatic center, coaches curriculum and a stable financial system for the sport across all regions.

“In our four year plan, we focus at developing an new national coaches curriculum, financial stability in the sport and erecting a national aquatic center and of development of aquatic facilities across all regions of the country.” Moses Mwase.

The assembly which was attended by 42 delegates also passed a budget of UGX. 650 millions. The federation source of income is the annual affiliation dues by swimming club’s and schools.
Annual subscription from swimmers, coaches, executive committee members and competitions are other great sources of income to the federation.

At the assembly, National Council of sports was represented by the assistant general secretary in charge of technical issues David Katende.
