Gomba have secured their place in the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup final after completing a 3–0 aggregate victory over Butambala on Sunday.
The reigning contenders sealed their place in the championship match with a narrow 1–0 win in the second leg at Kibibi S.S Playground, with Hassan Waiswa scoring the decisive goal in a fiercely contested and well-attended encounter.
The match was graced by Princess Katrina Sarah Mirembe Ssangalyambogo, who was accompanied by the Buganda Kingdom Minister of Sports, Youth and Arts, Owek. Robert Serwanga.
Gomba had carried a two-goal advantage into the return leg after winning the first meeting 2–0, and they showed composure to protect their lead before Waiswa’s strike effectively ended Butambala’s hopes of a comeback.
The victory takes Gomba to their 11th Masaza Cup final since 2004 as they pursue a sixth championship crown.
For head coach Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, the achievement is particularly significant, marking his fourth final appearance in the last six editions.
Gomba will now wait for the outcome of the other semi-final between Bugerere and Kyaggwe to discover their final opponents.
Kyaggwe hold a slender advantage after claiming a 1–0 victory in the first leg at Bishops S.S Playground in Mukono. The return leg is scheduled for Sunday, 4 October 2026.
The 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup final will be played on 31 October at Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.
