Kyaddondo Ssaza FC have moved decisively to reinforce their squad, unveiling four experienced additions ahead of the decisive second round of the 2026 Masaza Cup.
The quartet of Ambrose Kirya, Sam Ssemugugu, Pius Kaggwa and Peter Ssekungu—arrive with proven pedigree and are expected to inject both quality and leadership as Kyaddondo intensify their push for a knockout-stage berth.
Kirya, an attacking midfielder, brings a wealth of top-flight experience, having previously featured for Jinja Municipal Council, BUL FC, SC Villa and Maroons.
His creativity and composure in advanced areas are anticipated to add a new dimension to Kyaddondo’s attacking play.
In midfield, Peter Ssekungu offers steel and leadership. The defensive midfielder captained Bulemeezi to their historic 2023 Masaza Cup triumph and is widely regarded for his tactical discipline and ability to shield the backline.
Upfront, Kyaddondo have secured a potent goal threat in Sam Ssemugugu. The striker, who has featured for Lugazi FC and currently plies his trade with UWA, finished as his club’s top scorer last season with an impressive 19 goals form that Kyaddondo will hope translates seamlessly into the tournament.
Versatility arrives in the form of Pius Kaggwa, a dynamic left winger capable of operating in midfield. With a résumé spanning Synergy FC, Wakiso Giants, Police, UPDF, Mbale Heroes and Mbarara City, Kaggwa adds depth, pace and experience on the flanks.
The reinforcements come at a critical juncture, with the Masaza Cup set to resume on 2 August.
Kyaddondo currently sit fourth in the tightly contested Bulange Group on six points, trailing leaders Buddu Ssaza.
With the group stage entering its defining phase, the new signings are expected to play a pivotal role in sharpening Kyaddondo’s competitive edge as they seek to climb the standings.
Kyaddondo’s last Masaza Cup triumph dates back to 2008, and while recent campaigns have fallen short, the hunger for silverware remains evident.
Their most notable recent run came in 2024, when they reached the latter stages only to be eliminated by Buddu 4–2 on aggregate, losing 3–1 in the first leg at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium before settling for a 1–1 draw in the return leg at Kitovu Arena.
