Buwambo United confirmed their ascent to the FUFA Big League in emphatic fashion, overcoming Black Stars FC 5-3 on aggregate after a pulsating 4-2 triumph in the return leg at YMCA Grounds, Buwambo on Saturday, 20th June.
With the tie delicately poised at 1-1 from the first leg in Wankulukuku, the decisive clash delivered intensity, drama, and clinical finishing.
Despite conceding as early as the third minute through Simon Katumba, Buwambo demonstrated remarkable composure to wrest control of proceedings.
Innocent Ongurucho ignited the comeback in the 23rd minute with a thunderous long-range strike that restored parity on the day.
Momentum swiftly shifted, and just three minutes later, Alex Mutebi completed the turnaround with a sublime curling effort into the far corner.
Abubakali Kalungi extended the hosts’ advantage before the break, finishing clinically in the 38th minute to hand Buwambo a commanding 3-1 lead at halftime.

Black Stars, however, refused to capitulate. Forward Benon Lutaaya reignited hope with a powerful finish that narrowed the deficit to 3-2, keeping the contest finely balanced deep into the second half.
As tension gripped the closing stages, substitute Pius Mulema emerged as the hero, striking in the 87th minute to seal a famous victory and confirm promotion with a decisive fourth goal on the night.
