Kyadondo Secondary School and Amus College School have booked their places in the semifinals of the 2026 USSSA Boys’ Football Championship, delivering composed performances to eliminate formidable opposition in Sunday’s quarterfinal clashes at Lira Town College Playground.
Kyadondo S.S produced the standout result of the round, edging defending champions Buddo S.S 1-0 to underline their growing credentials as title contenders.
Midfielder Bashir Edema converted from the penalty spot just after the half-hour mark, a decisive moment that ultimately separated the two sides.
Buddo, marshalled by skipper Dickson Barasa alongside Tom Ssasazi and Ronald Mukisa Ssegirinya, struggled to contain Kyadondo’s attacking threat, particularly the ever-dangerous winger Rafael Masuudi, whose relentless runs unsettled the backline throughout the contest.
“This is a great achievement for the school. We have planned well since the holidays, and the FEASSA qualification is a big reward. I salute the players, coaching staff and the school management,” Hakim Ssenkumba remarked after the game.
Earlier in the day, Amus College School secured their passage with a narrow 1-0 victory over London College Nansana in a tightly contested encounter.
Forward Mudasir Ijosiga proved the difference, calmly tapping home from close range after a well-worked move initiated by Ivan Okello down the left flank.
Despite Amus pushing for a second goal to seal the tie, London College remained resilient and pressed for an equaliser, but their efforts failed to yield a breakthrough.
The Bukedea District-based outfit now joins Kyadondo in the last four, with both sides edging closer to not only the national crown but also qualification for the FEASSA Games.
Attention now shifts to the remaining quarterfinal fixtures, which are set to be played under challenging conditions following heavy rains that left the Lira Town College surface slippery. Bukedea Comprehensive School (South) will face Masaka S.S at 2 PM, before NUMASA S.S takes on record champions St. Mary’s Kitende in the day’s final showdown at 4 PM.
Meanwhile, the championship has been further boosted by the unveiling of a new trophy on Thursday, 14th May 2026, which will be presented to the eventual winners after Tuesday’s final.
