Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi claimed a slender yet significant 2-1 victory over Muteesa I Royal University in the first leg of their 2025/26 Pepsi University Football League (UFL) quarter-final clash on Wednesday, 25th March 2026.

The hosts struck early and late to establish control of the tie, with Richard Lagu opening the scoring in just the 6th minute.

The forward capitalized on a well-delivered assist from Francis Ogwang to give Uganda Martyrs a dream start.

Despite periods of resilience from the visitors, Uganda Martyrs maintained their edge and doubled their advantage deep into stoppage time.

Allan Odong found the back of the net in the 92nd minute, finishing off a precise setup from Gabriel Ogen to seemingly put the game beyond reach.

However, Muteesa I Royal University kept the contest alive in dramatic fashion.
