In a landmark move, Uganda and East Africa’s secondary school sports powerhouse, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende, has appointed Marion Atwegyeise as its inaugural Head of Sports, a newly created position aimed at further professionalizing school sports management.

Atwegyeise, a seasoned sports administrator, brings a wealth of experience from her previous role at Buddo Secondary School, where she oversaw multiple FEASSA Basketball gold medals and national championships.

Her achievements include guiding Buddo to Africa Schools Championship gold in basketball 3×3 and dominating district-level netball competitions.

As St Mary’s Kitende’s first Sports Tutor, Atwegyeise will oversee the entire sports ecosystem, focusing on technical support, competition coordination, and athlete development.

Her mandate includes building a professional sports culture rooted in respect, empathy, teamwork, and discipline.

The appointment underscores St Mary’s Kitende’s commitment to innovation and excellence, as the school seeks to maintain its dominance in regional secondary school sports.
