The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has successfully concluded a six-day netball coaching workshop at High Standard Secondary School, Kiboga, aimed at equipping students and teachers with essential skills to drive school sports development.
The training, which took place from January 26 to February 1, 2026, brought together 30 participants from 11 districts, including students and teachers from primary and secondary schools.
Patrick Okanya, National Coordinator for Capacity Building at USSSA, emphasized the importance of training the right skills in developing school sports during the closing ceremony.

“From 30 participants coming from 11 districts, we are proud to say the future is bright, and our next agenda is to ensure that they practice what they have learnt.
Utilize these trainees particularly students as coaches and sports assistants.
This will help in building leadership, responsibility and continuity in sports programs,” Okanya said.
The workshop is part of USSSA’s efforts to nurture young talent and empower students with certified coaching and officiating skills.
Participants below the age of 17 will receive support to progress to Level II training.
