Kitara FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Express FC at Royals Park, Butema, on Wednesday, showcasing their impressive home form in the Uganda Premier League.
Patrick Kaddu’s 56th-minute strike proved the difference, as the Royals collected maximum points in front of their home crowd.
Despite Express’s brave fight, they failed to capitalize on their chances, and their depleted squad – they traveled with only 14 players – was evident in the second half.
The pitch conditions, affected by the hot temperatures, didn’t help either team, with visible patches hindering the flow of the game.
Kitara’s Gadafi Wahab set up Kaddu for the decisive goal, and John Byaruhanga’s late miss was a costly one for the hosts, who could have sealed the win with a second goal.
The victory lifts Kitara to sixth place with 26 points in 13 games, while Express slips to 10th with 15 points in 14 games.
