Express FC, SC Villa Meet in Another Ferocious Derby

Uganda’s biggest and oldest club rivalry takes center stage this Saturday 19th December when Express FC take on perennial rivals S.C Villa at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Fresh from winning another Kampala derby 2-1 against KCCA FC at home, SC Villa will this afternoon visit the fierce Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku to face arch rivals Express FC.

In the last 12 meetings, the hosts have won only thrice while S.C Villa has managed six victories with three draws between them.

Express FC – S.C Villa fixture has always been a sharp divider in Ugandan football for time immemorial and the latest meeting which comes on match day 5 finds the Red Eagles in pursuit for a second league win of the season as SC Villa will seek for their third.

Express FC started with a 1-all draw against Onduparaka FC, 2-1 over Bright Stars and a 1-1 draw against Mbarara City to gather five points out of the possible nine.

On the other hand, SC Villa drew 2-2 with Bul FC, won 3-0 and 2-1 against Mbarara City and KCCA FC respectively and a 2 -1 loss to URA FC to consolidate 7 points out of the possible 12.

Express FC will welcome back their captain Enock Walusimbi who returns from suspension after serving a 3 match ban for a send off against Onduparaka on match day one at Green Light Stadium in Arua.

Midfielder Ibrahim Kayiwa (ankle injury.), forward Kiragga Mustafa (delayed ITC), Kakooza Mahad Yaya (knee injury) are sidelined whilst Musiige Charles faces a late fitness test with his muscle injury.

The two clubs have lifted 22 league titles between them, as S.C Villa brag a record 16 championships compared to Express FC’s 6.
