In a move that has sent shockwaves through the Ugandan football fraternity, Alex Isabirye has been appointed as the new head coach of BUL FC, replacing Abbey Bogere Kikomeko who was relieved of his duties last week.

Isabirye, a hugely popular figure at the club, returns for a third stint in charge, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success.

Interestingly, Isabirye’s second stint with BUL FC in 2021 saw him take over with the team in 12th place, eerily similar to their current position.

Despite this, he has been hailed as the man to steer the club back to success, having guided them to their first major title, the Stanbic Uganda Cup, in 2022.

Isabirye, one of Uganda’s most decorated coaches, is expected to work alongside interim coach Daniel Kabale, as well as Patrick Crespo Asiku and Kenneth Magada.

His first task will be to lead the team to an away fixture against Calvary FC Midigo in Yumbe on January 7th, 2026.
