Under floodlights, SC Villa secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Calvary FC in the Uganda Premier League encounter at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba on Wednesday.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute after Calvary captain Stephen Oriokot tripped Najib Yiga in the penalty area, and Aslam Ssemakula converted from the spot to give SC Villa the lead.

The Jogoos dominated possession and created several chances, but Calvary’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Andrew Kiwanuka making a crucial save in the 26th minute to deny Frank Ssebuufu.

The second half was a cagey affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances, despite introducing fresh legs in the middle park.
