In a stunning display of skill and determination, Uganda’s U-17 national team, the Cubs, have advanced to the round of 32 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, defeating France 1-0 in their final group game.

James Bogere’s 18th-minute goal, expertly set up by Hamuza Ssengooba, proved to be the difference, sending the Ugandan fans into raptures at the Aspire Zone Pitch 3 in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

The victory marks a historic moment for Uganda, as they finish third in Group K with four points, alongside France and Canada, who topped the group.

The Cubs’ impressive performance has earned them a spot among the top eight third-placed teams, securing their place in the last 32 of the competition.
