Ugandan side of NEC FC is gearing up for their continental debut in the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

They will face off against Kenyan outfit Nairobi United FC in the First Preliminary Round, a tie that promises to be an exciting encounter for fans of both teams.

NEC’s participation in the tournament is a result of their impressive performance in the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League, where they finished second.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the club, and they are now set to test their skills on the African stage for the first time.

The team’s remarkable domestic campaign has raised expectations, and they will be looking to make a strong impression in the competition.

The winner of the NEC FC and Nairobi United FC tie will progress to the Second Preliminary Round, where they will face either Al Ahli Madani of Sudan or Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.

The first leg of the tie will take place in Uganda between September 19-21, 2025, before NEC FC travels to Kenya for the return leg between September 26-28, 2025.

The Second Preliminary Round is scheduled to take place between October 17-26, 2025, with the victorious side booking a spot in the Group Stage starting November 21, 2025.

The knockout phase of the competition will begin on March 13, 2026, marking the start of a long and challenging journey to the final.

NEC FC will need to be at the top of their game to navigate the competition successfully and make a deep run in the tournament.

With their continental debut on the horizon, NEC FC is ready to take on the challenge and make their mark on African football.
