Kawempe Muslim Secondary School has successfully navigated the round of 16 of the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National girls football tournament in Bukedea, edging past resilient Bunya SS 1-0.

Agnes Nabukenya scored the decisive goal, extending her tally to 12 goals in four games.

In a surprising upset, Standard High School-Zzana claimed a 5-3 victory over last year’s finalists Rines SS in a penalty shootout, following a goalless draw in normal time.

However, inclement weather has disrupted the tournament, with heavy downpours in Amus forcing the postponement of six round of 16 matches.

The rain has rendered the four football pitches at Amus College unplayable, and the matches have been rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

Other teams that have progressed to the round of 32 include St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana, who will face Hopeful Future from Kayunga, and Amus College, who will take on Tororo Girls.

The full quarterfinal fixtures are:
1. Kawempe Muslim had already played and won (1-0)
2. Amus College Vs Tororo Girls
3. Uganda Martyrs Vs Shamah High School
4. Hopeful Future Vs St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana
5. King of Kings Vs Nkoma SS
6. Bugisu High Vs Boni Consilii
7. Sheema Girls Vs Nyabubare
was not played
8. Standard High School Vs Rines SS had already played and Standard High won in penalties
