The 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boys football U-20 championship got underway in style on Tuesday, May 6, in Ngora district.

The tournament, which will run until May 15, 2025, features a number of exciting matches, with teams competing across various groups.

In Group A, defending champions St Julian High School made a strong statement, coming from behind to defeat Garama SS 3-1.

Yubu Thembo gave Garama an early lead, but St Julian responded with three unanswered goals, courtesy of Jaziru Jamani Makayi, Dissan Mwebe, and James Ssekate.

Other matches played on the first day saw Busia Secondary School thrash Chemwania High School 3-0 in Group J, while MUMSA High School edged out Wisdow High School 2-1 in Group K.

St Lawrence High School Crown City dominated Mwoyo Star High School 4-1 in Group L, and Kibuli Secondary School secured a narrow 1-0 win over GreenLight Islamic in Group O.

The championship will continue with more group stage matches on Wednesday, ahead of the official opening ceremony on Thursday.

With a number of talented teams in action, the tournament promises to be an exciting event, showcasing the best of Ugandan school football.
