The 37th edition of the UMEA Solidarity Games has seen several top teams, including hosts Namagabi SS, Greenlight Islamic, defending champions Kawanda SS, Kaddugala, and Kibuli, qualify for the round of 16.

Under the guidance of Sharif Lulenzi, Namagabi SS has made a remarkable comeback, overcoming a loss and a draw to win three in six  group games to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

The hosts, who were placed in Group C, won three matches, drew once, and lost once, demonstrating their determination and skill. Notably, Namagabi SS held Kibuli SS to a 19-19 draw, showcasing their strength and resilience.

Defending champions Kawanda SS has dominated Group A, winning all five matches and qualifying for the round of 16 as table leaders.

On the other hand, Last year’s finalists, Greenlight Islamic Secondary School – Nansana, has been impressive, winning all five matches at the group stage level and advancing to the knockout stage unbeaten.

Other teams that have secured spots in the round of 16 include Kaddugala SS, Kibuli SS, and Hamdan.

The tournament continues to showcase exceptional talent and sportsmanship, with several thrilling matches played in the group stage.

After the round of 16 this morning,  the quarter-finals and semi-finals will follow this afternoon and the third-place classification and final will be played on Monday,  the 21st April.

– Kawanda SS 44-09 Kinaawa High
