Wakiso Zone Boys Tournament: Greenlight Islamic, Zana Mixed make winning starts

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) 2025 Wakiso Zone boys football qualifiers got off to an exciting start, with Greenlight Islamic Secondary School-Nansana and Zana Mixed Secondary School making impressive winning starts.

Both teams won their first two fixtures, setting the tone for a thrilling tournament.

In their opening game, Greenlight Islamic thumped Kings Way 5-0, with Emmanuel Lule, Abdu Razak Iradukunda, Simon Peter Okwi, Sudaice Ssemakalu, and Thomas Kawooya scoring the goals.

Okwi Simon Peter was again on target as Greenlight Islamic secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kajjansi Progressive in their second match.

Meanwhile, Zana Mixed Secondary School began their campaign with a 3-0 win over Hannah, thanks to goals from Marol Makur Sanya, Ibra Namuhwe, and an own goal from defender Ronald Otim.

They followed up with a 3-1 win over St. Peters Nalya, with Salim Jeyden Mubeezi, Robert Ssebaale, and Kenneth Galiwango scoring for Zana Mixed.

In other fixtures, Aggrey Zone champions Standard High School-Zzana (STAHIZA) secured narrow 1-0 wins over St. Charles Lwanga International and Kisozi SS, with gigantic forward Benon Lutaaya scoring the winning goal in both matches.

Kyaddondo SS, who are considered one of the top contenders, got off to a flying start with a 3-0 win over St. Augustine College Nansana, thanks to goals from Brian Ijara, Moses Kalule, and Junior Odinga.

They followed up with a 0-0 draw against Kampala Islamic.
