St. Noa Junior Boarding and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana have made history by emerging victorious in both the primary boys’ football and girls’ basketball categories at the 2025 Buganda Schools Competition.
The Ibra Muyinda-coached St. Noa Junior Boarding boys’ team defeated Kampala Grammar Junior School in the final on Sunday evening at Kawanda, lifting the title via spot kicks (5-4) after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
This triumph marked a back-to-back victory for St. Noa, having defeated the same opponent 2-0 in last year’s final.
Enroute to the final, St. Noa Junior Boarding defeated all-time champions Mivule Primary 1-0 in the semi-finals, courtesy of Shadrack Ssemugembe’s solitary strike.
Meanwhile, Kampala Grammar Junior School eliminated the tournament’s surprise package, Mugwanya Preparatory School.
Ian Ssempebwa was name the Most Valuable Player of the tournament (MVP) in the boys football tournament.
In the Secondary Schools girls’ basketball category, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana were crowned champions, completing an unbeaten run with five victories in the round-robin championship, which featured six schools.
The Zana-based side dominated the competition, recording convincing wins against Mbogo Mixed (50-18), St. Joseph’s SSS Nsambya (20-0), Mengo SS (23-1), St. Julian High School (20-0), and Trinity College (24-1).
This triumph marked St. Noa’s second basketball trophy, following their impressive victory at the 2025 All Stars Schools Basketball Championship.
St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana’s Phiona Afoyorwoth was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
