Kawempe Muslim SS has emerged victorious in both the boys and girls football categories of the 2025 Buganda Schools Competition.

The Ayub Khalifa-coached boys’ team defeated Buddo SS in the final on Sunday evening at Kawanda, lifting the title via spot kicks (5-3) after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The thrilling encounter saw both teams locked in a barren stalemate in the first half.

However, 15 minutes into the second half, skipper Ssekitooleko Ryan handed Kawempe the lead with a striker’s tap-in, courtesy of a well-calculated cross from the right flank by eventual tournament MVP Alvin Kitiibwa.

Just as Kawempe were preparing to celebrate, Buddo SS won a penalty in the last minute of added time, which was converted by Katamba Umar to level the scores.

The match proceeded to spot kicks, where Katamba Umar, who had resurrected Buddo’s hopes in normal time, missed his penalty, putting it directly into the hands of the Kawempe Muslim goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Kawempe Muslim’s girls’ team successfully defended their title, defeating Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 1-0, thanks to Dorcus Kisakye’s solitary strike in the second half.

In the primary schools’ category, St. Noa Primary School emerged victorious, beating Kampala Grammar Primary School via spot kicks.

In the netball competition, Buddo SS clinched the trophy, defeating hosts Kawanda SS 25-20 in the final.
