The 2024/25 Nalukoola Kawempe North Tournament commenced in grand style at the Kawempe Muslim Grounds, marking a significant milestone in the constituency’s sporting calendar.
The inaugural event, organized by counsel Erias Nalukoola, a prospective Member of Parliament for Kawempe North Constituency in the 2026-2031 term, promises to foster unity and promote sporting excellence among the local community.
Counsel Erias Nalukoola eloquently emphasized the primary objective of the tournament, stating, “This event is deliberately designed to reunite the Kawempe North Constituency, which has been fragmented over time due to various factors.
Our goal is to revitalize the community’s spirit and rediscover the exceptional talents that once flourished in our sports industry.
To achieve this, each of the nine parishes within Kawempe North will host its own tournament, culminating in a grand finale that brings together the champions from each parish.”
The official opening ceremony, presided over by Counsel Nalukoola, featured two thrilling football matches.
In the first encounter, Kalule Zone edged past Kakungulu with a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of Paddy Kemba’s decisive strike, which also marked the tournament’s first goal.
The second match of the day witnessed a nine-goal spectacle, as Kilokole triumphed over Keti Falawo with a 5-4 scoreline.
David Wasswa’s impressive hat-trick and Mikidad Sserwanga’s brace propelled Kilokole to victory, while Juma Mwanjje’s double, Hakim Kigaanda’s goal, and an own goal from Armujadi Bwogi accounted for Keti Falawo’s tally.
This comprehensive tournament will feature three sports disciplines: football, netball, and Ludo.
The champions in both football and netball will receive an impressive array of prizes, including a bull, a trophy, a set of jerseys, medals, and a cash award of UGX 1,000,000.
The silver medalists will receive UGX 500,000, while the third-placed teams will pocket UGX 300,000, and the fourth-placed teams will take home UGX 250,000.
As Counsel Nalukoola prepares to contest for the Kawempe North Constituency parliamentary seat in the 2026 general election, this tournament serves as a testament to his commitment to promoting community development and social cohesion through sports.
