URA FC defeated Lugazi FC on Thursday evening at Nakivubo to register back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Ivan Ahimbisibwe’s first-half goal was enough to secure all three points for the hosts on matchday thirteen of the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

The Tax Collectors started the game well, pressing for the opener, and their persistence paid off in the 24th minute through the in-form Ivan Ahimbisibwe.

Joseph Ssemujju beat his marker to deliver a pinpoint pass to Ahimbisibwe, who clinically slotted the ball into the back of the net to put the hosts in the lead.

This goal took Ahimbisibwe’s tally to nine goals, solidifying his position as the current top scorer in the league.

The visitors’ defense was organized, and they managed to contain URA FC’s attacking threats, ensuring the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, with just three minutes played, Nelson Mandela was denied by URA FC’s goalkeeper Omedwa, who made a spectacular save to thwart the visitors’ attack.

Two minutes later, Ivan Ahimbisibwe nearly doubled the lead, but his effort sailed narrowly wide of the goalpost.

Alex Isabirye’s side created numerous scoring opportunities to double and possibly stretch their lead, but Moses Aliro, Shariph Kimbowa, failed to capitalize on these chances.

Nevertheless, the early goal proved sufficient to secure maximum points for URA FC.

The victory propelled URA FC to 4th position with 21 points, while Lugazi FC remains in 12th position with 13 points, only four points clear of the relegation zone.

Matchday thirteen of the Startimes Uganda Premier League continues tomorrow, Friday, with two highly anticipated matches: Vipers SC visits Mbale Heroes, while KCCA FC hosts SC Villa in Lugogo.
