Police FC has suffered their first home defeat this season after a 1-2 loss to Maroons in Kavumba.

In the matchday thirteen of the Startimes Uganda Premier League game, which was played under cloudy evening skies in Kavumba, Maroons came from behind to beat Police.

Ivan Asaba netted a brace, while Isaac Ogwang scored the only goal for the hosts.

In just seven minutes, Isaac Ogwang put the hosts in the lead with a powerful header.

Mugume delivered a beautiful corner, which was powerfully headed in by Ogwang, giving the hosts a good start.

In the 24th minute, Maroons was awarded a penalty after Asaba was brought down in the box. Asaba stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to level the scores.

Police FC put up a collective effort to hunt for the second goal before the break, but despite a dominant display, the first stanza ended level.

In the second half, Maroons came back stronger and proved to be the better side, which paid off in the 54th minute.

Maroons made a counterattack, and Ivan Asaba brilliantly beat Police FC defenders, smashing the ball past the helpless goalkeeper to double the lead for the visitors.

The visitors took home all three points, deserving the win, and remain unbeaten historically against Police in the league.

In the last five meetings, including today’s fixture, Maroons have two victories, with the rest ending in stalemates. A total of 18 goals have been scored in these encounters.

This was Police FC’s first home defeat and second loss this season. Both teams were without their head coaches on the touchline, as they are attending a CAF A coaching course in Njeru.

Now, Maroons is 6th with 19 points, while Police is 7th with 17 points.

Elsewhere, Ivan Ahimbisibwe scored the only goal as URA FC  defeated Lugazi FC to register back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Matchday thirteen of the Startimes Uganda Premier League continues tomorrow, Friday, as Mbale Heroes hosts Vipers SC, while KCCA FC will be welcoming SC Villa in Lugogo.
