On Thursday evening, Maroons FC suffered a humiliating 0-4 defeat at the hands of Kitara FC on matchday twelve of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The match, played in Luzira, saw Kitara FC dominate from start to finish.

Fred Amaku opened the scoring with a brilliant header in the 9th minute, catching his former paymasters off guard.

Two minutes later, defender Ronald Otti doubled the lead with a beautiful header from Living Kabon’s pinpoint corner kick.

In the 28th minute, in-form striker Jude Ssemugabi stretched the lead to 0-3 with a clinical finish, courtesy of Frank Zaga Tumwesigye’s assist. Ssemugabi’s goal capped off a well-orchestrated team move.

In the second half, goalkeeper Simon Tamale denied Ssemugabi with a spectacular save.

However, Ssemugabi sealed the victory with his second goal of the day, slotting the ball into an empty net in the dying minutes of the game. Marvin Nyanzi provided the assist, and this was Ssemugabi’s fourth goal in the last two games.

The hosts had numerous scoring opportunities, but Boris Onen, Frederick Kigozi, and Bashir Mutanda failed to capitalize on their chances.

This victory marked Wasswa Bbosa’s third win of the season since replacing Brian senyodo. Kitara FC now occupies 10th place on the log with 14 points, while Maroons FC sits 7th with 16 points.

In their next fixtures, Maroons FC will visit Police FC on Thursday next week in Kavumba, while Kitara FC will host Express FC two days later.

Matchday twelve of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League continues on Friday, with SC Villa hosting Police FC in Wankulukuku and Express FC facing off against URA FC in the late kick-off.
