Wakiso XI

The matchday eleven of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League kicks off today, and Wakiso Giants FC is visiting Police FC in Kavumba.

Both teams are in the hunt for three points, with Wakiso Giants last tasting victory in September, while Police last won in October.

In their last three games, Police have shared spoils with their opponents, with the last one surrendering the lead twice in their 2-2 draw with UPDF.

For Wakiso Giants, they have failed to win in the last seven games, drawing two and losing five, and they have managed to score only once.

Wakiso Giants’ coach Bengo is under pressure, as he wants to save his job, and he can only do that if he beats Police this evening.

However, Police FC have not lost any single game at home this season, with their only defeat being in Kitende to Vipers.

Speaking to the media, Wakiso Giants’ assistant coach Tonny Mawejje explained how they can hurt the opponents.

“We need to win the Wednesday game, and we have changed the system and a few tactics to help us avoid the previous mistakes and get maximum points.”

Police FC head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa is optimistic that his side will grab the three points.

“We surrendered the lead on two occasions in our previous game against UPDF, and we have to avoid this happening again. We have managed to do enough preparation for Wakiso Giants, and we are going to win the game.”

In the last home game, Police lost 0-1 to Wakiso Giants, and the Cops have only one victory in four home games against the Purple Sharks.

Police have defeated Wakiso Giants four times, drawn once, and lost three games.

Wakiso Giants sit 13th on the table with only one point above the relegation zone, while Police FC are 8th, and a victory will take them to 4th position.

Simon Peter Mugerwa’s side will miss Kizito Ryan and Male Reagan, who are ruled out due to malaria.

Goalkeeper Edward Kasibante is another absentee for Police, also due to sickness.

The Purple Sharks will miss Rahmat Ssenfuka, Kizito Luwaga, Herbert Asiimwe, Derrick Kaija, Alex Komakech, and Musa Ssegujja. Baker Lukooya is doubtful after picking up a knock in training.

Defender Ambrose Arinda is suspended due to accumulated cards, and Marvin Mukiibi is still out doing his UACE final exams.
