State Minister for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang has today Saturday, the 2nd November flagged off the Uganda National Netball team, the She Cranes to New Zealand for Fast 5 Test series.

A team composed of 12 players and ten officials will leave the country this Sunday.

She Cranes head coach Nelson Bogere named the final 12 man squad ahead of the throw-off of the 2024 netball Fast 5 championship on 31st October.

The final travelling team consists of Margret Bagaala (assistant captain), Joyce Nakibuule, Christine Nakitto, Sandra Nambirige, Shadiah Nasanga, Christine Namulumba.

The others are Falidah Kadondi, Muhameed Hanisha, Irena Eyaru (Captain), Mary Cholok.

Newly elected Netball Uganda president Joyclyn Uchanda, executive committee member Sarah Nkonge, Cecilia Anyacoit (team manager) and John Barnes Sentamu (Media).

The other officials are head coach Nelson Bogere, his assistant Nurdin Kato and Ephraim Mujjabi.

The She Cranes will travel to Christchurch, New Zealand this weekend.

The championship will throw off on 9th to 10th November 2024.

Two professional players namely in shooter Mary Nuba and defender Faridah Kadondi who trade their brands in the United Kingdom will join the team in New Zealand.

Under tactician Mugerwa, Uganda finished fifth the recent tournament held last year.

In 2022, Uganda lost 32-49 to New Zealand to hosts in the opener before beating Jamaica 33-22 in the second game.

The She Cranes went ahead stun eventual winners Australia 32-30 in what is arguably the biggest victory in Ugandan netball history.

However, they would eventually fall 22-27 to South Africa in their final game of the Series.

The performance of the She Cranes in New Zealand was a testament to how strong the team had become over the years.

The two day event will have 18 matches played amongst the six countries.

Australia, Jamaica, England, South Africa, New Zealand, and Uganda will compete for supremacy this year.
