Vipers SC will make a short trip to Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso on Thursday evening to face Wakiso Giants in match day five of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The tie comes amidst reports that coach Nikola Kavazovic who was previously suspended has parted ways with Vipers SC.

In their previous games, Vipers edged SC Villa 2-1 in Kitende, while Wakiso Giants FC lost 1-0 to UPDF in Bombo. Despite having the same points (7), Vipers sits 5th, while Wakiso Giants are 8th on the log.

The last time Wakiso Giants hosted Vipers SC, the visitors won 4-0 and will hope to replicate that performance this Thursday.

While speaking to the media, Steven Bengo expressed optimism ahead of the fierce Wakiso derby.

“We’ve had enough time to work on our mistakes, especially improving goal-scoring chances and organizing our defense.”

Under Steven Bengo, Wakiso Giants have proven to be an organized team, particularly in their home games, where they remain unbeaten this season.

Their top scorer, Herbert Asiimwe, has scored in all their home games, netting against Soltilo Bright Stars and Mbale Heroes. He was voted the league’s best player for September.

Vipers’ playmaker Allan Okello is likely to miss this encounter after returning from South Sudan on Wednesday afternoon, where Uganda secured three crucial points.

Wakiso Giants will continue to miss Rahmat Ssenfuka and Kizito Luwaga due to long-term injuries.

Alex Komakech has a knee injury, while Vicent Zziwa and Derrick Kaija have knocks.

Meanwhile Joseph Lubega has a fever, and Marvin Mukiibi is unavailable due to UCE final exams.
