Kitara FC have this evening run riot over Uganda Premier League newbies  Lugazi FC handing them a rude welcome in their 2024/25 league opener and debut.

The two sides faced off on Saturday evening, the 14th September at Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, Mabira Forest.

Fresh from scoring for Uganda Cranes against Congo Brazzaville on his debut early this week, Jude Ssemugabi scored a brace and a goal from Frank Tumwesigye as Kitara won 3-0 over helpless Lugazi FC.

Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye’s opened the scoring, 26 minutes into the game with a powerful left foot strike to send the ruthless visitors in a 1-0 lead.

43 minutes into the first stanza, Jude Ssemugabi extended the Royals’ lead to 2-0 to send his side to break in a comfortable driving position.

The goal was a perfect end of an explicit one-two play situation between goal poacher Denis Omedi and Ssemugabi.

The lanky forward Ssemugabi complete his brace with a close range strike grabbing the third goal for Kitara in the 64th minute.

The hosts ended the game with a player less after defenders Rogers Atube who was making his debut was given marching orders in the second half for a second bookable offence.

The emphatic win takes Kitara FC into an early lead on the table on goals advantage.

Kitara will return to action on Thursday on the road to Luzira, a home to Maroons FC while Lugazi will visit UPDF FC on the same day at Bombo.
