Uganda Christian University skipper Geoffrey Gagganga dominated individual awards during the Pepsi University Football league (UFL) awarding gala held on Tuesday, the 4th  at Kati Kati Restaurant – Lugogo.

Despite his side UCU finishing 2nd after losing 3-1 to eventual winners Nkumba in the final, the UCU midfielder Gagganga won three individual awards.

The midfield maestro was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season.

He was also voted the best midfielder beating off the competition from Nkumba University’s winning captain, Kennedy Ssewankambo and Michael Abura of St Lawrence University.

The UCU man scored six goals in the season, only two behind the top scorer Akbar Ssentongo of Uganda Martyrs’ University (UMU).

He was further announced as the smartest footballer and also being part of the best XI of the season.

“Being awarded means hard work being appreciated, its not being better than other players but at least there are extra moments you have been getting at the pitch.” Says the MVP- Gagganga Geoffrey.

This was Gagganga’s last season in UFL and he is eyeing Premier league football.

In the other categories, the league winning coach, Dr. Sulaiman Bbosa walked away with the best coach of the season accolade.

“I came out as the best coach, not because other coaches were not good but the winner of the league, maybe always have an upper hand.

I am also happy for my players who were voted, Lubega Ismail (best Defender), Obwana John (best goalkeeper), Ssewankambo Kennedy who made the best XI.

I think that will motivate us more. I also congratulate the other winners from other teams.” Says Dr. Bbosa Suilaman, Nkumba University tactician.

Best Sports Tutor: Lukaire Samuel (UCU)
