Newbie Kitara Football Club have won 1-0 against NEC FC at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku in highly anticipated Cup final to clinch maiden trophy.

Despite having the best display on the evening, NEC failed to score after missing a couple of chances.

Going by luck, Kitara who converted from the their first attempt.

In the 73rd  minute, substitute Solomon Okwalinga scored the all important goal for the Royals as the mark an historic mileage.

Benjamin Ochan picked the ball from his net off a flick from Okwalinga after a good low shot from Donato Okello.

Few minutes to the final mark, the royals held firmly onto their narrow lead, with pressure mounting from the opponents.

Kitara held on to win the game despite consistent attacks from the NEC side and won the ticket to represent Uganda in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Most Valuable Player – Jamil Kiyimba (Kitara)

Joseph Dhata (NEC) was the tournament top scorer, Gideon Odong (NEC) named the best defender, Jamil Kiyimba (Kitara) the best goalkeeper and Best Midfielder was Allan Mugalu (NEC).
