Uganda Premier League record champions SC. Villa have suffered a 2-1 defeat to newbies Kitara FC.

The loss came at SC. Villa home Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Friday, the 15th September 2023.

The tie was the 2023/24 opener. Dennis Omedi and Kabon Living scored for Kitara FC whilst returnee Charles Lwanga netted for SC.

In the 16th minute, Dennis Omedi sent Kitara FC into a 1-0 lead as his name went into the UPL history books as the scorer of the first goal of the 2023/24 season.

The Omedi finish was off a Brian Aheebwa ball. This became his (Omedi) first top-flight and as well as first goal for Kitara FC.

It should be remembered that Omedi, was the top scorer in the FUFA Big League last season.

Towards the end of the first stanza, forward Charles Lwanga found the back of the net in the 43rd minute to level matters for sc. Villa.

Lwanga’s  close range came off new signing Elvis Ngonde’s ball after a solo long lung-bursting cutting into through the midfielder.

Too late into game, Kitara FC’s Living Kabon staged a heroic moment to score the winner for the newbies.
