The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has successfully concluded its Level II Capacity Building courses, which took place from December 7 to 12 at Kibuli Secondary School in Kampala.
The six-day event trained students and participants in various sports disciplines, including football and netball coaching and refereeing, volleyball refereeing, and media.
The closing ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Rev. Duncan Mugumya, Commissioner of Physical Education in the Ministry of Education and Sports, and Romain Fermon, ISF Academy Director.
Fermon praised Uganda for being the first country to host the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) coaching and umpiring training with the ISF.
Rev. Mugumya emphasized the importance of professionalism, discipline, and patriotism, urging participants to adhere to the Rotary Four-Way Test in their sports endeavors.

“As a Rotarian, I believe the Rotary Four-Way Test should guide how we carry ourselves in sports.
Be patriotic and practice professionalism and high degree disciplines in your execution,” he said.
The course attracted 227 participants from across 19 zones, with instructors providing training in various disciplines.
USSSA President Emeritus Patrick Okanya guided trainees on the pathway to officiate USSSA National and international championships, stating,
“Student referees must present school recommendations, report cards, or semester results to officiate in upcoming championships.”
The instructors for the course included Nassanga Zubedda (Netball Umpiring), Mugerwa Fred Tabale (Netball Coaching), Ssonko Mark and Nsubuga Faizal (Football Refereeing), Gimbal Sylvia (Volleyball Refereeing), Abby Munywevu (Media), and Stone Kyambadde Nandibassa (Football Coaching).
