Union Boxing Promotions has unveiled an ambitious boxing card headlined by the highly anticipated clash between Shakur “Top Boy” Mugambe and Ivan Kisakye, as the promotion seeks to strengthen its presence in Uganda’s boxing industry and create more opportunities for young people through sport.
The two boxers will headline the Battle for Glory One event scheduled for October 17 at Club Obligato in Kampala, with the organisers promising an evening of competitive bouts and live entertainment.

Operating under the umbrella of Union Transportation, Union Boxing Promotions unveiled its fight card on October 12 at Club Obligato, where fights coordinator Amon Mulyowa outlined the company’s broader ambitions in sports.
“As a sports promotion, we have extended our reach to boxing. We already have a football club, and now we are venturing into boxing.
Our aim is to support young people in improving their livelihoods through sport,” Mulyowa said.
He added that the initiative was also intended to strengthen the company’s engagement with communities served by its transportation business.
“We are not only looking at supporting athletes but also creating platforms through which we can engage with the communities we serve.
Saturday will be packed with exciting fights and other entertainment, including musicians,” he added.

The spotlight, however, will fall on the super-featherweight contest between Mugambe and Kisakye, who have already exchanged verbal blows ahead of their six-round encounter.
Mugambe, who has been away from the ring for some time, is confident of making a triumphant return and has boldly predicted an early finish.
“It has been a long time since I last stepped into the ring, but I am back. I am going to do it the way I used to, and that boy will fall in the second round,” Mugambe declared.
Kisakye, however, dismissed his opponent’s confidence, insisting that his preparation would speak for itself when the bell rings.
“I have heard what he has said, but he will not manage.
I will step into the ring to give the fans the entertainment they deserve. I have been preparing and I am still preparing for the fight,” Kisakye said.
“To my fans, I am going to make you happy as I defeat this so-called Top Boy,” he added.
Beyond the headline contest, the programme features several domestic matchups and an international featherweight bout between Croatia’s Arijan Goricki and Tanzania’s Milonzi, scheduled for eight rounds.
The card also features Majidu Kabonge against Moses Ssenyonjo, Simon Lubega against Jamaican George, and a series of other encounters across multiple weight divisions.

With 19 bouts listed on the programme, Battle for Glory One is positioned as an important showcase for Union Boxing Promotions as it expands its activities beyond football into boxing.
