Bukedea Comprehensive School–South sent an early warning to their rivals at the 2026 USSSA Boys’ Football Championship, delivering a commanding 4-1 victory over PP Newton High School to underline their title credentials.

The East Africa (FEASSA) reigning champions wasted no time asserting dominance at Lango College Playground 1, where a clinical display saw both Simon Wanyama and Bob Atendere net braces to seal an emphatic opening-day triumph for coach Ronald Ssali’s side.

Coming into the tournament in Lira City as one of the pre-competition favourites, Bukedea South justified the billing with a performance that blended attacking efficiency and composure—qualities that have seen them reach the semifinals in each of the last two editions.

In the same Group I, NUMASA Secondary School also made a strong statement, dismantling hosts Lira Town College 3-0.

Goals from Hassan Wasswa, Moris Segguya and Fahad Bukenya ensured NUMASA joined Bukedea at the summit after matchday one.

With momentum firmly on their side, Bukedea now turn their focus to a crucial showdown against hosts Lira Town College on Tuesday, while PP Newton will be seeking redemption against a confident NUMASA outfit.

As the group begins to take shape, Bukedea Comprehensive School–South have already made one thing clear—they are not in Lira to participate, but to conquer.
