Nyamityobora FC plans of gaining promotion back to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League have received a big blow following the resignation of their head coach Richard Makumbi.
Makumbi wrote the letter of resignation to the club sighting the club’s failure to pay his allowances as the two parties had agreed when he was signing the contract.
However, the club has been performing well in the FUFA Big League and they are one of the contenders to make it to StarTimes Uganda Premier League next season.
Nyamityobora are now on 14 points, two shy from the Rwenzori Group leaders Tooro United.
Makumbi was appointed ahead of the coming 2020/21 season to fill the void left behind by Coach Alex Isabirye who left the club midway last season.
However, many football spectators have interpreted his resignation as a political move since we are in election period.
But Makumbi has refuted these claims by affirming club’s failure to pay him as the main reason behind his resignation.
“My reason for resigning is not political,” Makumbi told this website before adding.
“I resigned because I demand Nyamityobora over 12 million shillings.”
“They have never paid me, my staff and the players, accommodation, feeding are all poor.”
“And our bosses are avoiding us instead,” he added.
