With matchday eleven of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League concluding today, Vipers SC travels to face Soltilo Bright Stars in Kavumba.

The Venoms enter this fixture sitting second with 21 points, only two points behind table leaders NEC FC, who drew with URA FC on Thursday. The hosts sit at the bottom of the table with six points from ten games.

In their previous fixture, Vipers played to a goalless draw with Kitara FC in Kitende, while Soltilo Bright Stars lost to Mbale Heroes on the road.

Vipers SC and Soltilo Bright Stars will meet for the 21st time in the league, with the Venoms holding a superior head-to-head record, having won 11 times and drawn nine times in their previous 20 encounters.

Last season, Vipers edged Soltilo Bright Stars 2-0 in Kavumba, courtesy of Andrew Kyambadde’s own goal and Bright Anukani’s strike.

Vipers SC assistant coach Fred Muhumuza shared his thoughts on the game: “We had a disappointment not winning the game last week against Kitara FC, but at the same time, I think the players realize that with the difficulty of playing a team with a strong low block and sitting back, a draw was probably a result we had to take, and they could see some positives as well in the resilience and attitude they showed.”

“It’s always tough to go to Kavumba, but we have picked wins from there. They are teams in two different moments, but we have prepared for the game to go there and beat them because we need a result.”

A victory for the Venoms will take them to the top of the table, while the hosts will move two places up but still remain in the relegation zone.
