In a remarkable achievement, Greenlight Islamic Secondary School-Nansana has defied all odds to reach the knockout stage of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National boys football tournament in Ngora.

Despite being in a challenging group, the Nansana-based side has managed to progress to the round of 32, finishing second in Group O with six points, one point behind historical Kibuli SS.

In a crucial group tie, Greenlight Islamic beat St. Gerald 2-0 to seal their spot in the knockout stage.

Sudaice Ssemakalu and winger Elvis Kimuli scored the decisive goals for Greenlight, marking a historic milestone for the team in their debut year.

Greenlight Islamic will now face East African champions Amus College School in the round of 32, a formidable opponent that topped Group P with seven points in three games.

Other top teams have also learned their fate, with defending champions St Julian High School facing host school Ngora High.

Record champions St Mary’s Kitende will take on Bishop Comboni College, while 10-time champions Kibuli SS will face Buziga Islamic.

The round of 32 fixtures promise to be thrilling, with fan favorites Blessed Sacrament Kimanya facing Mumsa High School from Mityana, and Kyaddondo SS taking on Lake Side Masese.

The matches will be played on Saturday morning at 9 and 11am, followed by classification games for teams knocked out at the group stage level in the afternoon.

– St Mary’s Kitende Vs Bishop Comboni

– Buddo Vs Bugisu

– Mumsa H/S Vs BSK

– Lagwai Seed Vs Wisdom

– Masaka SS Vs Kabalega

– Uganda Martyrs Vs Standard High Ndejje

– Kibuli Vs Buziga Islamic

– Amus College Vs Greenlight.
