In a pulsating encounter that left Group A of the Mapinduzi Cup wide open, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC was held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars at the Amaan Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Tax Collectors had seemed poised to seize control of the group, only to be thwarted by a late equalizer in the 45+3 minute, courtesy of Singida’s Idriss Diomande.

Hudu Mulikyi, the midfield maestro, had given URA the lead in the 25th minute.

His tireless efforts and clinical finish earned him the Man of the Match award, a testament to his outstanding performance.

“The match has been hard; Singida is a good side,” Mulikyi said, his focus already shifting to the next challenge.

“But our focus now shifts immediately. Our next game is Azam, and we are ready for them. We will manage them.”

The veteran’s words underscore the reality of the situation: URA FC must now win their final group match against Azam FC to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

The stakes are high, and the pressure is on. URA is 3rd on the four teams log tied on four points from two games with 2nd placed Azam FC.

Singida Black Stars lead the group with six points in two games.
