STORY BY GEOFFREY MUGABI

Vipers SC have edged URA FC at Nakivubo this evening to go top of the table.

Allan Okello and Milton Karisa each scored a goal as Vipers beat URA FC 2-0 on the road.

Under the floodlights of Nakivubo, Vipers looked hungry but couldn’t find the back of the net as the first stanza ended goalless. In the 56th minute, Milton Karisa scored the opener for the visitors.

Twelve minutes later, goal scorer Karisa set up Okello, who brilliantly headed the ball into the back of the net to double the lead.

In the 83rd minute, Abubakar Lawal almost stretched the lead from Watambala’s brilliant ball, but the goalkeeper denied the former.

The victory propels the Venoms to the top of the table with 20 points, one ahead of NEC FC, who are second on the log.

This was the fourth defeat for Alex Isabirye’s side as they sit 10th on the table with 11 points, only four points above the relegation zone.

The Startimes Uganda Premier League matchday nine ends on Saturday as Wakiso Giants FC visits SC Villa in Wankulukuku.
