COPENHAGEN, Denmark | September 24, 2026 — Uganda and Denmark are advancing discussions on a potential Government-to-Government (G2G) partnership aimed at strengthening Uganda’s firefighting, fire prevention and emergency rescue capacity.
A high-level Ugandan technical delegation, coordinated by the Uganda Embassy in Copenhagen under the leadership of H.E. Ambassador Margaret M. Otteskov, undertook specialized demonstrations and learning sessions at Falck Fire Denmark before visiting the Franck Fire Training School in North Zealand.
The delegation examined modern firefighting and rescue operations, emergency preparedness, specialized equipment, professional training and institutional organization.
The initiative seeks to move beyond a conventional study tour towards a structured partnership covering firefighter training, fire-risk management, emergency command systems, specialized equipment, industrial and petroleum fire preparedness, high-rise and hazardous-material rescue, and technology transfer.
The cooperation comes as Uganda moves towards commercial oil production and expands major infrastructure and industrial investments, including the Tilenga, Kingfisher and East African Crude Oil Pipeline projects.
“The Embassy is working to ensure that Uganda–Denmark relations translate into practical partnerships that strengthen Uganda’s institutional capacity, protect lives and property, and support investment.
As Uganda enters a new phase of industrial and petroleum development, modern emergency-response systems are an essential part of national preparedness.”
The Embassy said follow-up engagements will assess Uganda’s fire and rescue capacity gaps, Danish technical solutions, training requirements, equipment needs and possible financing models.
The mission brought together officials from key institutions, including the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministries of Finance, Works and Transport, Local Government, Internal Affairs, and Energy and Mineral Development, alongside the Uganda Police, PPP Unit, Uganda Investment Authority and Stratus Medical Supplies Ltd.
