The hosts made a strong start, with Clement Mzize scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes.

In the 13th minute, Mzize pounced on a rebound after Mudathir Yahya’s fierce effort crashed off the upright, opening the scoring for Tanzania.

Seven minutes later, he doubled the lead, meeting Feisal Salum’s precise free kick and steering it past the goalkeeper with impeccable timing.

Madagascar refused to give up, finding a lifeline in the 34th minute.

Mika Razafimahatana drilled home from close range after neat build-up play from Lalaina Rafanomezantsoa, reducing the deficit to one goal.

The second half was more cautious, with the Madagascar team pushing for an equalizer.

Jean Luc Ranaivoson came close to leveling, but Tanzania’s defense held firm.

The win keeps Tanzania perfect in Group B with three victories from three games, making them the first team to qualify for the last eight.

Shomari Kapombe had a chance to restore the two-goal cushion for the hosts, but the score remained unchanged.

Tanzania’s victory marks a significant milestone in their campaign, and they will look to build on this momentum as they progress to the quarterfinals.
