SUPL: Vipers edge Soltilo Bright Stars to maintain top of the table status

Vipers SC maintained the top of the table status after registering a 2-1 win against Soltilo Bright Stars in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on Wednesday evening.

Halid Lwaliwa and Cesar Manzoki scored for Vipers SC while Ibrahim Kasinde scored for the visitors.

Lwaliwa gave Vipers a lead in the 10th minute as he climbed high to head home Bobosi Byaruhanga’s freekick from the right flank.

Five minutes after recess, Bobosi Byaruhanga fouled Yasin Mugume in the area and Bright Stars were awarded a penalty. Ibrahim Kasinde stood up and converted from the spot sending Fabien Mutombora to the wrong side.

In the 57th minute however, Mazonki restored Vipers’s lead after striking from close range to beat Bright Star’s custodian Tamale.

The win left Vipers on the top of the table at 43 points while Bright Stars remained 15th with 16 points after 19 games played.
