Under floodlights, the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season  officially kicked off this Friday evening, the 13th September at MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

Hosts KCCA FC beat URA FC 1-0 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League highly contested opener played in front of a huge crowd.

Midfielder Saidi Mayanja scored the only goal of the game breaking the deadlock in the 29th minute of play.

The win became the 10th win for KCCA FC against URA FC in 30 meetings in the league history.

Meanwhile URA FC FC has won 13 times and the two sides have drawn 7.

Saidi Mayanja’s goal became the 74th goal in 30 meetings with both sides netting 37 times in the league history.

Goalkeeper Derrick Ochan who joined URA FC from KCCA FC made his debut against his former employers as his new home lost at Lugogo.

Faizal Matovu and George Masembe also made their debuts after coming on for Bwangani and Ssekibengo in the 57th minute.

KCCA FC’s new signings Derrick Nsibambi and Bright Anukani also made their debuts on return for second stints at Lugogo.
